'Gone Home'

This journal is now a memorial to a wonderful, gentle loving man who left this world on Friday, 07th November 2008.

It will continue to be lovingly maintained by Vivienne [info]caersidi.

Fantastic Planet - Just Different
Had a wonderful day yesterday.

Went out for Breakfast with Viv in Nuneaton then went to Coventry.

Very crowded in Cov. I was pushing Viv in wheelchair, which was great fun, although Viv didn't like the crowds. I made sure people got out of the way, but was less careful with ignorant people who chose not to move. I didn't hit anyone.

We collected my Comics from FP, fun taking Viv down the ramp LOL.

Then I popped into Blue Banana, A Local 'goth shop'
I was initially looking for long sleeve t-shirt but my eye was caught by the display of 'legal highs'.

Now I've never tried anything like that before, I always assume they were some sort of rip off. I man. If the legal ones were any good why would people buy illegal stuff. I was intrigued.

So I decided, on a whim, to have some.

I bought a pack of Salvia X5 as recommended by the strange girl at the counter as a good buy. I also got a special pipe for it.

After Cov we went to Blockbusters and got out
Hanable Rising, The Number 23 and The Last Winter.
So far we have only seen The Number 23. Which was okay, but not as good as I expected.

Then I decided to try the Salvia X5

Cut for those not interested in psychotropic experiences. )
Worthy of investigation
World Trade Center

A Truly HORRIFIC film. Not recommended for anyone sensitive to seeing humans suffer.
A good film, well made and sensitive to the subject. It dose not cover much of the actual event, concentrating more on a single police crew. It’s not the ‘remake of towering inferno’ some people complained it might be.
Not a film I want to see again

The Sentinel

You would think after 6 years of doing 24 Kiefer Sutherland would want to take a break from playing the super action hero. But his character in this movie is basically another incarnation of Jake Bower.
The Movie itself is good, keeping up the suspense and keeping you guessing on how they are going to resolve the storyline.
Definitely worth watching if you’re a fan of 24. Not just for Kiefer Sutherland, but because it’s like a good episode.

Right at Your Door

Now I loved the ‘docudrama’ part of this movie. The way the events of a dirty Bomb going off in LA were convaid without major special effects and instead you hear what the players here, all from the radio. The first 30 minutes or so, describing how they react to the situation was done very well and realistically.

But after that, well, lets just say the main character makes a single, totally illogical (to me anyway) decision. Which was essential to the plot, but that took away any empathy I had with him and thus made his predicament less interesting.
However, there is a good twist at the end which I was pleased with.
Not a ‘must see’ film, but glad I’ve seen it now.
1st-Jul-2005 04:47 pm - War of the Worlds
marvo
Well.

Been a while.

But then again not really had that much to say.

Working - sleeping - Watching Survivors (the 1975 UK one) - Watching Stargate from Season one… and that's about it.

Went to see War of the Worlds yesterday

Possible spoilers )

Definitely worth seeing!
11th-Nov-2001 02:57 pm - Go see Harry Potter!
marvo
First off obviously, is the Harry Potter Movie. (Anyone who doesn't want spoilers, stop reading until you've seen it.)

Wow. It was wonderful. Far too short. Needs to be at least a week long instead of two and a half hours!

The locations were perfect. And the acting, unflawed.

Okay going into nitpick mode now…

Malfoy: way too cute! Not 'upper class' enough.

Not enough 'character development, especially with the 'secondary' character. I can understand this of course; there was just no time. But you didn't get the feeling of the house being upset about losing so many points

Snape: Not enough. What there was was perfect. And it wasn't explained why Snape was trying to save Harry. Something that was in the first book, but missing here.

The Ghosts were great, apart from the Bloody Baron, who you only see briefly, is seen 'smiling' I don't see that myself. Not good.

Out of all the actors, Emma Watson (Hermione) was without a doubt in mind the best. An Oscar winning performance. The same can be said for Robbie Coiltrain as Hagrid. Perfect. Ron and Harry too were amazingly 'just right'.
All in all I would give it a 9 out of 10. Only losing a point for being too short.

Now to the rest of my life.

Got Hellblaser and Lucifer from FP. Had a fun chat on HP Hogwarts, although apart from Annoying Niki (IC) Marvo and Arcadia didn't do too much.

Had a great chat about the Movie.

And that's about it for yesterday.

Today got up way too late (not that I'm complaining) Fixed up the fence out the back as next doors dog keeps coming in and chasing the cats. They should replace it, but they cannot be bothered, so I just put some old wood up and some wire. Hopefully should hold a while.

Went shopping and put dinner on. That's about it.
10th-Nov-2001 01:58 am - I did it!
marvo
Well I have survived my first full week at work (well, not actually full, only 36 hours when a full week is 37.5)

Had fun chats last night, and slept well. I know I had strange dreams, but forgot them.

Went to Interview at 9 today, it was so cold out! Interview went okay. But I had to 'blag' a lot! Seems they want an It Manager with a lot of network experience. Well, 'technically' I have that, but not really much 'technical' knowledge. I am sure they could find someone better than me.

Anyway, work was okay. Very boring again. Did tons of photocopying and some work on a till. Not very interesting at all (just like my journal entries)

Missed lunch because Café closes at 2pm when I had lunch. But had 2 packets of crisps and chocolate (oh, and tuna sandwich)

Finished work at 7pm and had a Chinese for dinner. Very nice. Then on line a little and then watching 'Hannibal' with Viv. It was so nice to sit and watch a film with Viv, seems liek ages since we did. Too adicted to computers LOL. Not at all impressed with film. It was a slow and totally missed out good bits from book, as well as ruining the ending. Buffy seemed to liek it. She sat with us staring at the screen! So glad she is getting better. Just need to get Cally to the Vet. MAybe on Tuesadya when I have day off (working Sataday SOB!) But she has a habit of disapperaing when the time comes.

Poor Viv hurt her foot somehow. cut it loks like. Have to make sure it's okay tomorrow.

Well that's it for day. Harry Potter tomorrow!
